What Respect Looks Like When You Are Angry

Respect when you are angry looks like this: you do not hit, you do not humiliate, and you do not use the people in your house as a dump for a boss you cannot shout at.

Anyone can be polite when the day is easy. Manhood is the ten minutes after you have been disrespected at work.

What counts as disrespect in a home?

Name-calling. Breaking things to make a point. Silence used as a sentence for days. Mocking her in front of the child. Those are not "lalaki ako." Those are a man with no other language.

Why do we explode at the wrong person?

Because the wrong person is safer. The supervisor can fire you. The tricycle driver will not see you tomorrow. The wife is still there. That is not leadership. That is cowardice with a wedding ring.

What do you do instead?

Leave the room. Wash your face. Walk around the block. Write the sentence you want to shout, then delete it. Come back when you can talk about the actual problem, not the whole year.

Frequently asked questions

Is anger itself unmanly?
No. Uncontrolled anger is. Anger that becomes a plan is useful. Anger that becomes a storm is expensive.

What if I already did damage?
Stop. Repair without a kasi. Ask what safety looks like for them. Then keep the new rule longer than the apology post.
