How A Man Apologizes Without Adding Kasi

A man apologizes without adding "kasi" by naming the harm, owning it in one sentence, and offering the next action — with no story that makes him the victim.

We learned to explain. Explanation feels like intelligence. In a fight, it often feels like escape.

What is a real apology?

"I was late. I should have sent a message. I will leave earlier on Friday." That is an apology. "Sorry kasi traffic, kasi boss, kasi you also..." is a court case.

Why do Filipino men add kasi?

Because we were trained that being wrong is being small. So we bring a reason to stay tall. The reason may be true. Traffic is real. It still does not pay the person who waited.

How do you apologize when you are still angry?

Wait until you can say the sentence without a weapon in it. Then say only the part that is yours. You can discuss the rest later. Mix them and nobody hears either.

Frequently asked questions

Does apologizing first mean I lost?
It means you can end a fire. That is leadership, not losing.

What if she also did something wrong?
Own yours completely. Then ask if she is ready to talk about hers. Two half-apologies in one breath usually become a new fight.
