Should You Still Send Padala If You Are Barely Surviving

Yes, you can still send padala if you promised it — but only an amount your own household can survive next month, not an amount that makes you a hero once and a beggar twice.

Utang na loob is real. So is the electricity in your own apartment. Many Filipino men break themselves trying to be both the son in the province and the provider in the city.

Is stopping padala a betrayal?

Not if you replace silence with a clear number. Betrayal is disappearing. Adulthood is saying, "This is what I can send until December." Family that loves you can hate the number and still respect the honesty.

Why do men keep sending more than they have?

Because they were praised for being the one who saves everyone. Praise is addictive. So is the fear of being called walang utang na loob. That fear will spend money you do not have.

How do you set a padala you can keep?

Base it on leftover after rent, food, and a tiny emergency. Not on last month's guilt. Write it. Send it on a date. Do not add "saka ko dagdagan" unless the extra is already in your hand.

Frequently asked questions

What if they get angry?
Anger is information. It does not automatically mean you are a bad son. It may mean the old amount was never discussed.

What if I am the eldest?
Help in a way you can repeat. A collapsed eldest son is not a plan for the family.
