What A Filipino Man Should Do After He Loses His Job

After a Filipino man loses his job, he should tell his household the same day, cut every non-essential peso, and work the search like a job — mornings, applications, follow-ups — not like a secret.

The firing or the end of contract already happened. The second injury is hiding until the rice runs out.

What do you say at home?

"The job ended. Here is what we have. Here is what I will do this week." Short. No speech about who betrayed you. Your child does not need a villain. Your wife needs a plan.

Why does job loss hit Filipino men so hard?

Because so much of our name is tied to providing. When the ID is gone, some men feel they are gone. That feeling is real. It is also a trap. You are not your company ID. You are the man who still has a next move.

What does the next seven days look like?

Update the resume. Message three people who actually hire, not thirty who only like your posts. Apply before noon. Walk in the afternoon so the body does not rot on the bed. Keep one small routine: shower, clothes, out of the house.

Frequently asked questions

Should I take any job?
Take a bridge job if the bills are on fire. Keep looking for the better one while you are already earning something.

Is it okay to feel embarrassed?
Yes. Feel it. Then do the next application. Embarrassment is not a plan.
